Something to Talk About

Part 5

"There's something wrong with your cat." Duo announced as he reached to pick her up and she ran in the opposite direction.

"She just doesn't like you." Trowa called from the bathroom and the door swung open. "Are you ready?"

"Yeah, but aren't we going to wait for Heero?" Trowa walked over to the night stand and picked up his wallet and keys.

"Heero isn't coming tonight. It's Aya's birthday."

"So it's just us?"

"Unfortunately." He shoved the items into his pocket and turned off the bedroom light before heading into the living room. Duo jumped from the bed and followed the taller man.

"I'm surprised that you're going then. I didn't think you would if Heero couldn't make you."

"Look, I promised Heero I would and I'm not going to break that promise."

"In other words, you're afraid Heero will kick your ass."

"Right." Trowa pushed Freesia from the front door with his foot to allow Duo to leave. Giving one last gentle shove, he pushed the kitten further into the room and stepped into the hall. The two men headed toward the stairs leading down.

"Can I ask you something?"

"Hn?"

"How come you and Heero never dated?" Trowa just rolled his eyes and shook his head in disgust at the question. "I mean, I know you're best friends. . .but damn Tro. He's got it all. I can't believe you guys never tried dating."

"Why didn't you ever hit on Quatre? Or Yoji?" The tone Trowa used when speaking the second blonde's name was nothing short of repulsion.

"Yoji and Quatre aren't Heero."

"We're just friends Duo. Nothing more, nothing less."

"Are you sure? Because the way you guys act some times. . ."

"What's wrong with the way we act?" The question was presented as they stepped from the building and into the night air.

"Let's just say that I'm surprised that Aya hasn't threaten to kick your ass yet."

"Can we talk about something else? Tell me more about Dee." Trowa offered as they climbed into Duo's Mustang.

"Ninety percent hottie in Duo's Book of Attractiveness. Really out going, and friendly. He's kinda like me. . .with a hint of Heero. He can be serious when it counts, but he's also playful. I have a feeling the two of you will hit it off."

"What's he do for a living?"

"He's a cop." Duo snickered. "I heard you have a fetish for men in uniform." Trowa remained silent as he wondered how Duo stayed so informative with other people's love life. Duo continued to ramble on with all of Dee's good points, and after a while, Trowa stopped listening. His mind returned to Omi. He didn't realize just how much the blonde meant to him until after the break up. Suddenly, something dawned on Trowa and he looked over at Duo.

"Why didn't you tell me?"

"Tell you what?"

"That Omi and Yoji were together?"

"Trowa, you're not suppose to be worrying about that. You're about to meet. . ."

"I don't care about who I'm about to meet. I want to know why you didn't have the balls to tell me about it?"

"Who said I knew anything?"

"That's why you came to my apartment the other night and suggest that I get rid of Freesia. You knew, and you didn't tell me."

"I didn't think that it was my place. . .besides, would you have believed me if I did tell you?" Trowa turned from the braided man. "You need to stop doing this to yourself. Move on Trowa. Why the hell do you keep dragging this on?"

"Because I love him." At first Trowa wasn't sure who had said it. It took him a moment and the shocked look on Duo's face to realize that the words came from his mouth.

"Do you want to get wasted tonight?" Duo asked slowly without looking over at his companion. "If you do, tell me now so that I don't get too drunk."

"No. It's fine."

"Are you sure?" Trowa nodded. "I don't mind staying sober if you want. . ."

"Damnit Duo, I said no."

"I'm just trying to help you out. You need a serious attitude adjustment, maybe then you would be able to keep someone."

"You need to know when to quit."

Duo winked at the bartender and delivered one of his famous smiles. She blushed deeply before turning to make his drink. As the American scanned the shapely backside from his perch on the stool, he felt someone appear next to him. Tearing his gaze from the eye candy, he was a little surprised to find Dee sliding onto the stool next to him.

"How's it going?" Duo asked and glanced back at the table that Trowa was sitting at.

"You were right when you said he was sexy. . .but you failed to tell me about his attitude. Is he always like this?"

"No. He just went through a messy break up. . .so he's a little bitter. Once you get through that, he's a good guy."

"Any other downfalls you forgot to tell me about?"

"Like what? Thanks baby." He grinned as his drink was placed in front of him.

"Like a jealous ex? Overbearing family member? Previous years in a psycho ward or prison?" Duo laughed and shook his head.

"Trowa was never in a insane asylum. His criminal record is clean. His last break up was called off by his boyfriend. So if there's a jealous ex anywhere, it would be him. . .which he's not. And as far as overbearing family, he doesn't have one. Though I'd watch out for Heero if I were you."

"Who's Heero?"

"Remember the Japanese guy I was hitting on last summer?" Dee nodded and the gleam in Duo's eyes answered the question.

"What's the deal with him?"

"He's Trowa's best friend, and as of now, he's a little over protective."

"How over protective?"

"Well. . ." Duo spun around on his stool and looked back at Trowa again. "I don't see any problems occurring unless you try to sleep with him."

"Huh? Duo, what the hell did you get me into?"

"Look, if you don't like him, then just say so. I'm not trying to force anyone. . .even though you do owe me big for the last favor I did for you."

Trowa started at the pair sitting by the bar. He had the feeling that Duo was somehow blackmailing Dee into being here. Just the thought made him even more depressed than he already was. He watched as Dee picked up the drinks that he ordered and headed back toward him.

"What's the deal between you and Duo?" Trowa asked once the dark haired man sat down next to him. The date seemed a little shocked by the question at first. "I know you're here because of Duo."

"That's not entirely true."

"I can read lips." Trowa informed and stared at the older man. Suddenly, his green eyes by passed his date as they landed on a couple that was just entering the dance floor. His heart dropped as he realized that it was Omi and Yoji.

"Trowa, I find you very attractive. . ."

"Then fuck me."

"Wha-?" Not giving Dee time to respond, Trowa jumped to his feet, and grabbed Dee's upper arm. He dragged the man from the tables and toward the exit of the dance club. They had only made it to the parking lot. . .or more appropriately, Dee's back seat. The Latin attacked the police officer in desperation to feel something other than the pain in his heart of seeing Omi and Yoji together.

He never had sex with anyone as hard as he did with Dee that night. It was only 11:30, and Trowa's partner was already sound asleep. After the interaction in the back seat of the car, Dee had taken him to his home. Once there, Trowa seduced his date for a repeat performance. . .but it didn't help. The whole time Dee was inside him, he could only think of Omi and remembered seeing him at the dance club. He remembered how happy Omi seemed with Yoji. He could never do that for the blonde. Thinking about it brought forth new waves of hurt and frustration. It was those two emotions that drove him to wear out the man laying next to him in the strange bed.

Not wanting to deal with the morning after, Trowa slid out of bed and collected his clothing. As he left the house, he realized that Dee was a good guy. Maybe once he somehow managed to get over Omi, he would give him a call and try this again without the hated sex. As Trowa walked down the unfamiliar street, he wondered why he was so obsessed with sex in the first place. . .because it felt good.

Desperate to numb his heart and mind, he ducked into the first bar that he came across. Since Dee's house was clear on the other side of town, Trowa wasn't sure where anything was, nor how to get home. On the ride over, he had been too busy sucking on Dee's manhood to notice where they were going. Presently, he sat at the bar and ordered a drink. To be a Friday night, this particular bar seemed to be slow, customer wise. Aside from the five men sitting in the far back carrying on loud conversations, there was a couple making out in a booth, and two boys who barely looked old enough to be there, playing pool.

"What's with the long face?" The bartender asked as she set his drink down in front of him. Trowa didn't answer, he only took a deep drink and continued to stare at the liquid in his glass. "Oh, the strong silent type." She teased and waited for a response, but none came.
